Background

For the past 15 years, Debby Joel-Taiwo has been working towards unlocking secrets behind a healthy brain in infants and toddlers through Sleep Training—A unique and influential system that has changed the course of life for innumerable children and parents. Debby’s journey to working with children in her current capacity can be summed up in one of her life adages ”if it is your calling then it will keep calling you.”

Like many teenagers who take up babysitting as a way to make money, Debby began babysitting to earn quick cash while taking accounting classes in community college. After successfully completing degree requirements and waiting to officially graduate, Debby made a life-altering decision to take classes toward an additional certification in child development, figuring she could convert her years of experience working with children into something tangible. That last minute decision years ago led to Debby eventually becoming an Early Childhood Development Expert with specialization in Infant/Toddler Sleep.

A Personal Message

Hi, I’m Debby and I would love to share a few things that I’ve learned in over 15 years of sleep training and working with young children.

  1. Sleep training is a tool that we use to communicate with the brain and for that to happen, time, patience, and consistency are highly important.

  2. With sleep training, we are essentially telling the brain what we need it to do, how to do it, and why it is important for it to learn those skills

  3. Unhealthy sleep habits have a negative impact on temperament which then impairs a child’s ability to learn effectively, memorize adequately, and accurately recall information.

Before delving into any sleep training consult, I want parents to know that respecting a child and their needs are some of the most important requirements we would need for the journey. Secondly, consistency must be key because we see changes and outcomes only when we are consistent. Thankfully, my job does not stop there. I know the value and importance of emotional and mental support in this line of work and I have provided these on many occasions to countless sleep-deprived parents.

Sleep training is ultimately about teaching, shaping, and working with your child’s brain, and helping to shape it in such a way that as it matures, it can effortlessly perform non-cognitive functions such as “paying attention, organizing and planning, been able to complete a task, think critically, persistence and creativity” just to name a few. Furthermore, healthy sleep habits aid a child’s brain to self-regulate, form healthy attachments, learn with ease, and in turn develop stellar executive neural functions.

If you are ready to embark on this journey, I promise I will be with you every step of the way. We can do this and I cannot wait to meet you and your precious babies.
